Alan Robert Murray is the Academy Award® nominated sound editor behind Sicario. Murray previously took home two Academy Awards in the Sound Editing category for the films American Sniper and Letters from Iwo Jima. His latest nomination represents his eighth nod in the category.
At 2:50, Murray explains some of the challenges designing this soundtrack necessarily presented. At about 5:00 minutes in, Murray talks about the process of working with Director Denis Villeneuve, and his impact on the soundtrack. At the 8:00 mark, Kiser and Murray discuss the relationship between sound design and music, specifically while building tension. At 9:20 Murray recounts how he first began to work with another frequent collaborator, Clint Eastwood. At 15:50, Murray explains how he worked with the film editor to lock in the final soundtrack for this film.
