For more than 50 years, Dolby has been advancing the state of the art in sight and sound experiences. And in the announcement of its partnership with BroadSoft, Dolby promises a new era of innovation and exceptional business collaboration experiences.
Dolby and BroadSoft will announce the availability of the Dolby Conference Phone on the BroadSoft BroadWorks platform at BroadSoft Connections 2017, the premier annual event for the BroadSoft ecosystem of service providers.
Currently deployed by more than 600 service providers worldwide, BroadWorks is designed to enable all service providers to migrate gracefully from legacy architectures to next-generation cloud architectures.
Prior to the start of the BroadSoft Connections conference, the editors of Signal sat down with Patrick Ferriter, Dolby’s vice president of business development, Communications Business Group, to learn what the partnership means to Dolby and BroadSoft service providers and end-user customers.
Let’s begin by having you tell us about Dolby’s involvement and investment in the business collaboration space.
Dolby advances the science of sight and sound to create and enable spectacular experiences. The Dolby Communications Business Group is leveraging those advances to create products that deliver spectacular collaboration experiences for business users.
Why are BroadSoft BroadWorks-based service providers important to Dolby?
The partnership provides a global and scalable way for the Dolby experience to reach end-user customers, delivered by their trusted advisor—their own service provider.
What kinds of exceptional experiences is Dolby bringing to business collaboration and the BroadSoft BroadWorks ecosystem?
Through the BroadSoft partnership, Dolby is enabling service providers to have access to the Dolby Conference Phone. This solution provides an exceptional audio experience in every meeting, even in customers’ most difficult and acoustically challenged meeting spaces.
Tell us about the Dolby Conference Phone and the value it brings to business collaboration.
With the Dolby Conference Phone, users can talk, and be heard, from anywhere in the room—even while facing a whiteboard. The Dolby Conference Phone’s 360-degree audio picks up conversation throughout the room, including loud, soft, and distant voices. Meeting participants can feel confident that those sitting farthest from the phone can hear them clearly, even if there are background noises in or around the room where the Dolby Conference Phone is located. It makes it easy for all the participants to have a natural conversation.
How does the Dolby Conference Phone improve the communications experience in acoustically challenged environments?
Many modern office designs have conference rooms with high ceilings, hard floors, and glass walls. To obtain good audio performance in many of these types of environments, customers often install expensive audio systems. Dolby’s exceptional audio technology can adapt and automatically deal with these more complex acoustic environments. The customer just needs one simple device: the Dolby Conference Phone.
What is the significance of the availability of the Dolby Conference Phone on the BroadSoft BroadWorks platform?
The BroadSoft BroadWorks Platform is deployed by hundreds of service providers globally. These service providers leverage this platform to offer Unified Communications (UC) as a service to their end-user customers. The service is typically deployed through a simplified “pay-as-you-go” subscription model that includes the service and any devices required to deliver the overall experience.
The SIP validation of the Dolby Conference Phone with the BroadWorks platform enables service providers to offer an exceptional meeting solution to their end-user customers.
As this strategic partnership deepens, what might service providers expect in the future? What might end-user customers expect?
Service providers are always looking for ways in which they can differentiate their service offerings and add value for the end-user customers they serve. Dolby and BroadSoft are both known for innovation and industry leadership. End-user customers can expect the companies to focus on innovation and broader solutions that deliver exceptional business collaboration experiences. BroadSoft-based service providers can expect to be able to leverage this innovation to deliver ongoing value and differentiated services to their customers.
The Best Is Yet to Come
Dolby and BroadSoft share a common vision for relentlessly improving the quality of business communications and collaboration. Service providers can look forward to additional, even fuller integrations of Dolby technology and solutions on the BroadSoft BroadWorks platform.
“This is only the beginning,” Ferriter concluded. “We are off to a strong start.”
